Our February Black Belt Class, Mt. N. Maroon, is armed with new tools and ready to climb to new heights! The 20 participants of Cohort 60 represented 11 City and County of Denver agencies and five external organizations. The groups represented include:

  • Community Planning and Development (CCD)
  • Denver Human Services (DHS)
  • Department of Environmental Health (DEH)
  • Department of Finance (DOF)
  • Mayor’s Office
  • Office of Human Resources (OHR)
  • Parks and Recreation (P&R)
  • Denver Police Department (DPD)
  • Public Works (PW)
  • Sheriff’s Department
  • Technology Services
  • Metro Denver Chamber
  • City of Gilbert, AZ
  • Kansas City Health Department
  • City of Miami, FL
  • State of Colorado

In 4.5 days, this class:

  • Learned tools to identify and eliminate waste and identify the gaps in their process
  • Participated in Gemba Walks at three locations (Parks and Recreation, Excise and License, and Public Works) and presented an in-depth analysis for each process
  • Practiced standard work and mistake proofing
  • Discussed approaches to Change Management and barriers to innovating
  • Applied process improvement tools in a 3-hour lean simulation
  • Presented 20 Ignite presentations with 60 amazing innovation ideas!

It is our privilege to have had the opportunity to teach this great group of individuals. We’re proud of the hard work this class put in during their week of Black Belt training and are anxious to see their innovation ideas implemented.

Congratulations Mt. N. Maroon! We can’t wait to see how you make Denver, Gilbert, Kansas City, Miami, and the State of Colorado more efficient.
